Chris Willmott is the sound producer for Critical Role Productions LLC since 2017.

Critical Role productions

As a sound producer, Chris Willmott is more or less in charge of all the Critical Role productions. Chris is the person in charge of manually sound produce the campaigns of Critical Role, but also the talk shows Talks Machina, where he made two brief appearances, and 4-Sided Dive. He also worked on various webseries, like being the production and post-production sound mixer for All Work No Play, the sound mixer for Between the Sheets and Travis Willingham's Yee-Haw Game Ranch, and the sound tech for Mini Primetime.

Chris contributed to the making of "The Nautilus Ark: A Johnson Corp Odyssey" (Sx60) by creating a reverb effect pedal for Ashley Johnson to trigger when she was doing the voice of M.O.T.H.E.R, the Nautilus Ark's A.I. system. Chris did additional sound design and music editing for the lo-fi tracks Mighty Vibes and the Uk'otoa Sea Shanty for the Uk'otoa board game, as well as mastering Welcome to Tal'Dorei and Welcome to Wildemount for Critical Role's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music.

More recently, Chris was involved in the sound mixing of Candela Obscura and is the sound mixer and re-recording sound mixer for the edited episodes of Critical Role Abridged. He was also the sound producer and re-recording mixer for the "Let's Play Queen by Midnight!" video. Chris was also involved in the realization of four videos about the Daggerheart game system, "How to Play Daggerheart | Open Beta", "How to Make a Character in Daggerheart | Open Beta", "Critical Role Creates Characters in Daggerheart | Open Beta", and the "Ménagerie a Trois" (Sx85) one shot.

Chris Willmott is the Founder & Managing Director of Departement 4 Productions and the Founder & CEO of Pool House Post & Sound Solutions. Chris' clients include Imagine Dragons, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, Legendary Pictures, Apple, Microsoft, and Google to name a few. In his early career Chris has also collaborated on various TV series and short films.

Trivia

• Chris Willmott's work at Critical Role has been often praised by his fellow coworkers, Head of Production Vinnie Singh and former Talks Machina host Brian W. Foster who spoke highly about Chris for his dedication and excellent work as a sound mixer in the studio.
• The epiosde "The Weave Mind" (3x116) of Campaign Three: Bells Hells was recorded on Chris' birthday and a plate of donuts was brought to the cast for the occasion during the session.
• In the second playing set of Critical Role, Chris had the idea to put a "butt kicker" to the table so it can make a vibration and make a loud sound when triggered. It can be heard in the first episode of Candela Obscura, "Candela Obscura: The Cold Embrace" (CO1x01) and the first episode of Age of Umbra, "Age of Umbra: Desperloch" (AUx01). Both times triggered by Matthew Mercer.
