Celeste is a blue dragonborn mother of two, held in Rybad-Kol prison until the Strife Emperor's defeat near the end of the Calamity.[3] As an NPC, Celeste is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[]

Celeste spent most of her time concerned about her children and in keeping them calm under extremely frightening conditions, although she herself was also terrified. She wore a peasant's gown with a shawl over her shoulders.[4]

Biography[]

"Give and Take" (E4x01)[]

Celeste and her children were part of a caravan of dragonborn being assembled at the prison to be sent to the Scaled Tyrant, either to fight on the front lines or to be eaten by her. They happened to be seated next to Crokas and Erro Mordaurum, and when Rei'nia Saph arrived with a convincing story that Crokas was contagious, they were part of the group taken to the prison's oubliette in order to minimize the risk of illness being spread. Thus, they survived the battle between the Strife Emperor and the Prime Deities that took place above them, and were part of the group of twelve that began the trek northward in its aftermath.

"Seven of Them" (E4x02)[]

During the journey Crokas continued carrying Celeste's children so that they wouldn't get tired, but the mother carried one of them on the last leg of the journey so that Crokas could carry Fiedra. When they reached the refugee center of Torm's Hill, Celeste was in terrible shape from the journey but told Crokas he was now family to them because of his aid carrying the children on the way. She then left to find some food, leaving Celwyn and Celdria with Coswald.[5]

Later that day, when soldiers of the Strife Emperor attacked and Crokas and his friends killed them all, Crokas entered a kind of blood frenzy and wasn't able to calm down until Celeste's children approached and hugged him. She followed them seconds later, also holding Crokas and whispering to him in Draconic that he had saved them (something Celwyn translated to Common when he noticed Crokas didn't understand the language).[6]

"Mirror and Key" (E4x03)[]

Celeste and the two children bade Crokas a fond farewell as he left Torm's Hill with the rest of his party to head northward. Celeste gave him a corroded silver holy symbol and amulet of the Knowing Mentor, a pair of hands cradling an empty space, and told him that the hands awaited to hold knowledge, which is what the goddess grants. She told him that both the children and herself loved him, and reminded him that it was important to see himself as he truly is, rather than as how others saw him.[7]

Character information[]

Notable items[]

  • A corroded silver-colored amulet with a pair of hands outstretched as if cradling something, part of a holy symbol of the Knowing Mentor. Given to Crokas.[8]

Appearances and mentions[]

Quotations[]

  • "Now, everything's going to be all right. You understand? We're going to all be together no matter what happens, okay? We're all going to be here together, okay? And just be as quiet as you can. Did you hear what the man in the corner said? It's exactly right. We're just going to be quiet. And we're going to breathe, okay?"[9]
  • (to Crokas) "You are family to us. You saved my children."[10]
  • "Knowledge is the most precious gift there is in all the world."[11]

Trivia[]

  • The name Celeste is derived from caelestis in Latin, referring to the heavens or the sky (see also "celestial"). In multiple languages, "celeste" is the colloquial term for a related color, "sky blue". Celeste's scales are blue.
    • Names starting with "Cel-" seem to be a tradition in her family.
