Cashadoor was a fey elven man who acted as an emissary of the Unseelie Court. As an NPC, Cashadoor is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Cashadoor was a gray-skinned fey elf with shallow cheeks, sky blue-to-white eyes, somewhat sharpened teeth,[1] and gray with silver hair with black streaks on the sides and a pointed goatee curved at the end. He wore ornamental but effective armor, and had two expensive rings with jewels.[2]
Biography[]
At some point in the past Cashadoor became an emissary of the Unseelie Court, having undergone special training to resist mental manipulations.[3]
After the apogee solstice of 843 PD he and some guards were sent to the ruins of Pravenier to meet with Sorrowlord Athion Zathuda and Ludinus Da'leth, since the latter felt like the Unseelie Court hadn't been respecting his alliance with the Ruby Vanguard. They met in the Shrine of Gilded Gifts, an old temple of the Arch Heart, where Cashadoor assured the archmage that his people still believed in his cause, but their specialty was to wait and strike their enemies in the right moment, instead of lending constant support; although displeased by this, Ludinus was satisfied, and told the emissary to tell his superiors to prepare an attack against the forces the Exandrian Accord would send to the Tishtan excavation site.[4] Shortly after, however, a battle started when Bells Hells attacked the temple, and after Da'leth's Simulacrum form was destroyed, the Unseelie agreed to speak to the adventurers. One of them, Fearne Calloway (who was Zathuda's Ruidusborn daughter), addressed Cashadoor telling him about Ludinus and his past crimes against the fey. Athion, however, dismissed this and focused instead on the possibility of the Unseelie Court betraying the Vanguard so that Fearne could take control of Predathos; when she showed hesitance Cashadoor expressed disappointed, since their court had put their hopes in her, although the Sorrowlord assured him that she would learn. When the Unseelie were preparing to leave Bells Hells attacked them again, managing to knock the Unseelie fey unconscious.[5]

Before the emissary woke up the adventurers and their ally, Ira Wendagoth, tried to use magic to manipulate him and his guards into believing Ludinus had attacked them; however, Cashadoor's natural resistence to such influences protected him. When he regained consciousness, thanks to some moss Kamal (his remaining guard) gave him, he whispered to him and they tried to run away, although he was knocked out again very fast when Orym hit him with a sending stone. For the next few minutes the Unseelie emissary was drifting in and out of unconsciousness, while Bells Hells used disguises and pantomime to make him believe that a fight against Ludinus was taking place; however, they eventually abandoned that project and took Cashadoor and Kamal to Ligament Manor, with the emissary traveling with Dorian Storm on the back of his draconic steed. When they arrived to the Fatestitcher's domain the hag made sure the prisoners couldn't run away from her garden, and after a while she and Bells Hells returned to check on them. Upon seeing Morrigan Cashadoor became terrified, a feeling that deepened when Laudna intimidated him too as she Baned him (successful only in her third attempt). This was followed by a cycle of four attempts to Modify the memories while Laudna tried to use Silvery Barb to reduce the successes of the emissary, whose magic resistance protected him from those spells. Finally, since she had already successfully manipulated Kamal's memories, the Fatestitcher asked her guests if they really needed her two prisoners to live, and when they told her no, she took Cashadoor and placed him standing in the garden, causing plants to grow from his holes and transforming him into a bush.[6]

Trivia[]
- His name is pronounced similar to cazador, which means "hunter" in Spanish.
- He is one of the enemies in the history of Critical Role that has resisted the most spells in the shortest time out of combat, having resisted seven in total in the multiple attempts to use Bane and Modify Memory against him (with only Laudna's Bane taking effect a couple of times).[8][9] To all this we must add Laudna's four Silvery Barbs, which, although they automatically forced the emissary to repeat his saving throws, did not make him fail them.
