Description[]

Appearance[]

Bunnie is a beautiful and curvy faun with dusty rose fur, short antlers and long rabbit-like ears. She dresses mostly in leather.[2]

Personality[]

Bunnie is confident and flirtatious, and her behavior is passionate and slightly performative most of the time. However, there are moments in which she stays silent, just enjoying quiet and peaceful moments.

Biography[]

Background[]

Bunnie used to perform in the Lilly Locket Lounge. Eventually, she teamed up with the Menagerie and became an adventurer. At one point, she and Sir Danté Terrapin dealt with a strange phenomenon (a red mist) that affected people, and she saved him when that weird fog was drowning him.

After staying for a bit in the house of a veteran adventurer, Everett, the Menagerie went to the forest; they walked for a bit, and Bunnie chatted with Sweetpea Betabean about the former's shows, until eventually they found signs of corruption. Not long after, they found a wounded hedge bear which was joined by more beasts, showing signs of corruption themselves. Bunnie, who initially had cast Enrapture to keep the first bear's attention, joined the battle and helped her friends, encouraging a very shy Pango Small so he could defeat one of the hedge bears. After that they continued moving, and when they found the river, showing signs of corruption, Bunnie checked on the giant again, since he had mentioned before that the appearance of the substance reminded him of the "seep" that destroyed his home; Pango, however confirmed that it wasn't the same substance, and the bard told him that she and Sir Danté had some experience with a strange phenomenon (a red mist) that affected people too. They were attacked again by more beasts, and the faun used her performance to weaken their enemies; some skitterfish started approaching her, but left after Danté defeated the biggest monster. After that the adventuring party rested for a bit, and Bunnie combined her music with Xarlo Grandall's healing powers to help their friends recover. When they finally found the source of the corruption they were attacked by a mindless Boko, the Glen Warden, and although Bunnie fell into the water at some point, she successfully attacked the fane guardian, helping to contain it until they cleaned up the corruption and Boko regained control. When the guardian revealed to them who had likely caused the corruption, Bunnie was surprised, recognizing him as Dyson Broche, an occasional patron of the Lily Locket Lounge.

"The Menagerie Returns!" (Sx84)[]

The adventurers (minus Pango, who went underground to do his own research) decided to go to Bunnie's hometown in order to find Dyson, and when they finally arrived, a few days later, the faun was very happy to be back. She led her friends to the Lily Locket Lounge, a theatre full of performers and art, when she met with the Madame, her boss, she was slightly annoyed to know Bunnie was working with a group outside their workplace, explaining they would have to renegotiate her contract. When they learned that one of the performers that night had twisted her ankle, the Menagerie encouraged Bunnie to perform instead; she was hesitant at first, but when her friends told her they would help her, she agreed; thanks to the injured performer, in fact, they learned that Dyson had been seen in town recently.

Following the clues they had, the adventurers located Dyson in the casino, and Bunnie cast Enrapture to take him with her to one of the bathrooms; After forcing the occupant to empty it, he was left alone with the human, whom he interrogated, forcing him with magic and flirting to confess that he had taken a "package" to the forest on the orders of Mortimer Kroatona, a member of the local mafia family. After that, the bard hit Dyson and told him not to return to the Lily Locket Lounge, since he made the girls nervous, and used Recant to make him forget the last minute, leaving him confused and allowing the casino gorilla to take him away. The adventurers managed to locate Mortimer in a secret basement in the sewers, and a battle ensued: Bunnie encouraged her friends with Rally, and later used Slumber to sleep Mortimer, allowing Xarlo to steal a strange amulet the big ribbet used as a necklace. After the gangster woke up, Oppy and Bunnie managed to convince him to stop fighting, and she used Recant to make him forget the beginning of the conflict and who had stolen his necklace (the faun then let Xarlo known about it telepathically). However, when more gangsters arrived Mortimer got aggressive again, and the adventurers tried to run away; Bunnie and Sweetpea tried to use the former's Hypnotic Shimmer to stun their enemies, but it failed, so the two of them got captured.

Bunnie and Sweetpea during the interrogation by Elaine Tipping

Bunnie and Sweetpea were brought to a room and tied up for interrogation. Mortimer wanted to know how they found his hiding place, and started pressing the faun's head with his hand to scare them, although she casually asked him about the seep. While Sweetpea kept talking to the leader of the Kroatonas Bunnie started untying herself, although when the big ribbet started asking about his missing amulet both of them reacted with anger, explaining that they had no way of knowing since they had been captured, although the bard did mention her workplace. Some questions were exchanged, and Mortimer admitted he had sent Dyson with the "package" to the Emerald Sky because a baron had asked him to, after doing a favor to the Kroatonas closing some mines. When he was preparing to kill them and hit Sweetpea, Bunnie, completely free, responded by using her rope to make him drop his mace, after which she hit him with her fans, cutting one of his eyes. After a brief fight Bunnie used Recant to make the gangster boss forget the last minute of conversation, and then she teleported herself and Sweetpea out of there, supported by the fungril's shadow magic. When they met with the rest of the Menagerie they ran away together.

When they hid in an alleyway, Sweetpea used her magic to disguise the entire group as sexy ladies to avoid being recognized when performing with Bunnie: the bard chose to look like herself, but adding feathers to her fans and changing her hairstyle and outfit to get a flapper-like bob, as well as a tiny dress. When they returned to the Lily Locket Lounge the Matron greeted them and expressed her interest in their performance, which would go after that of Eden the katari (which made Bunnie very frustrated, since that performer was doing amazing). They decided that Sweetpea, Danté and Xarlo would perform with the faun, and the latter established a telepathic connection with Kexon to be able to talk to him while he and Oppy were with the audience. On stage, they noticed signs of sabotage but they managed to use them to their advantage: Xarlo purposely broke and brought down a silk rope that then Danté used to swing Sweetpea through the oily floor, while Bunnie danced syncronizing her every move with those of her team; when ball bearings were dropped on stage, Xarlo lifted her so she wouldn't trip, but when Danté accidentally left the stage and caused some commotion, Bunnie managed to hide with the end of their number and her Enrapture. When all the performances were done it became clear that the first two had been very liked, but Mafauna, a performer who was angry because her own number had been the worst (because some members of the Menagerie sabotaged her after realizing she was likely behind their own problems on stage), attacked the adventurers with her back dancers. Bunnie was angry at Mafauna for using her charms against her friends, but she responded by using her own talents, including Rune Circle and her Hypnotic Shimmer, to deal with the back dancer, stunning them. Eventually they managed to neutralize them all, making the audience believe it was all a staged fight. After Lamont praised their good performance, they left without being noticed by some Kroatona gangsters, since they were still disguised.

They went to the local closed mines to investigate, and after some effort and guile using the remaining time with their sexy disguises, the Menagerie reached a cave in which they found crystals with an abscess of corruption, and a glowing hydra defending it. The adventurers fought the monster, although it was regenerating, so no damage was completely permanent. After Sweetpea and Danté destroyed the crystals, the hydra stopped glowing, losing its regeneration and allowing Bunnie to kill it with her fans after Xarlo threw her at it. When they were leaving the mines they found the man who had helped them get in, but since he had met them in disguise, he only recognized Bunnie; the bard told him that the beautiful women had been waiting for him but got bored and left, and mentioned to him that she hand her "new friends" (the Menagerie in their true forms) had eliminated the seep inside the mine, so the area was safe again.

Trivia[]

  • According to Marisha Ray, she's had the idea of a dancing bard in mind for a decade, even when she was still playing Pathfinder, and thanks to Bunnie she's finally been able to explore that character concept.[3]
  • She underestimates performers that aren't excellent, such as tacky magicians.
