Brumeskippers are floating devices used for transportation between the different spires of the city of Jrusar in the Oderan Wilds.
Description[]
Brumeskippers look like platforms just over 10 feet in size, with guardrails on the sides of just two and a half feet tall.[2] The underside of brumeskippers glows a bluish hue, presumably coming from brumestone.[3]
Although these devices have the ability to float on their own, they seem to need a spellcaster to direct them where they are going.[4] They can hold about four passengers each.[5]
History[]
As of 843 PD brumeskippers were used as a means of private transportation in Jrusar similar to taxis, reserved for those who could afford their use.[6]
However, when the magic of the apogee solstice that same year began to interfere with the operation of various enchantments and items of arcane nature, some gondolas that connected the city's spires stopped working. Faced with this situation, the Chandei Quorum made the brumeskippers available to all citizens, although this caused the Quorum mages in charge of handling them to have an overload of work. Chetney, Deanna, Fearne, FCG, FRIDA and Imogen used one of these platforms, although the journey was made somewhat uncomfortable by the wind and the feeling that the vehicle was leaning slightly.[7]
Trivia[]
- It is very possible that brumeskippers were invented in Marquet, since that's where the arcane technology involving brumestone (including the first skyships) was developed.[8]
