No, not my city! My city! My name was—

Bolo's last words[7]
[!h]

Bolo was the plus-one of Loquatius Seelie at the pre-Replenishment party hosted by Patia Por'co. As an NPC in Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, Bolo was played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[]

Loquatius Seelie initially described her as gorgeous,[8] but later told Laerryn Coramar-Seelie Bolo was "just some arm candy".[9] Loquatius was a friend of a friend, and they were "sort of set up" -- Patia's party was the second time they'd met.

Biography[]

Background[]

Bolo was born in Aeor as one of the three daughters of Gorus and Vitalio Maximus, an illustrious couple of the floating city.[10]

Exandria Unlimited: Calamity[]

She presumably[11] met Loquatius Seelie during a meeting between Avalir and Aeor, and since she wanted to be a reporter like him,[12] he took her under his wing and was helping her in this goal,[13] bringing her to a party in Patia Por'co's home, where Bolo explained that in Aeor it was sometimes illegal to ask probing reporter-like questions.[14]

Cerrit Agrupnin later found her arguing with a hodmedod, trying to get drinks from it. She referred to it as a "bag" and asked him to destroy it.[15]

Later that same night, Aria informed Loquatius that Bolo had been trying to contact him, but he dismissed the calls (although manifesting a slight curiosity about them).[16]

"Downfall: Part Three" (3x101)[]

Brennan Lee Mulligan later confirmed that the silver dragon that took part in the battle against the mortal avatars of the gods during the destruction of the city of Aeor, and was killed, was actually Bolo.[17]

Appearances and mentions[]

Quotations[]

  • "This bag keep arguing with me. Can you destroy?"[18]

Trivia[]

  • Bolo spoke with a Slavic accent.
  • In an interview after the conclusion of the series, Brennan Lee Mulligan joked and theorized about how Bolo may have survived the fall of Avalir, either because she was an Aeorian spy who stole an artifact from the Septarion and "helixed" out, or because she was a Polymorphed Greatwyrm dragon who was immune to fire damage.[19]
    • In the "Exandria Unlimited: Calamity Wrap Up" (Sx70) Brennan, after joking about Bolo dying from being hit by a wagon twelve hours after the beginning of the Calamity,[20] reasserted the possible identities of Bolo, and admitted that the theory about her being a dragon would explain her strange social behavior.[21] In "4-Sided Dive: Oh My Gods" (4SDx26) he confirmed that Bolo had been a silver dragon, and with Ashley Johnson's assistance her ending after the fall of Aeor was slightly altered, making her flee the city rather than stay and withstand the flames (silver dragons aren't immune to fire).
    • In The Nine Eyes of Lucien it was confirmed that Bolo existed as an Aeorian woman of good family,[22] although based on the aforementioned theories it is unclear if the real Bolo Maximus was in Avalir or if her identity was stolen by a spy and/or shapeshifting creature.
      • After Brennan eventually confirmed that the dragon theory was correct, it remains unclear if this means that the Aeorian woman known as "Bolo Maximus" was always a silver dragon (and if the entire Maximus family were dragons) or if the dragon simply had a humanoid persona using the name of an actual citizen.
  • Mulligan commented that the Bolo name drop in Downfall was intended to be in the final episode's captions as part of Bolo's departing words; however, it wasn't included in the "Downfall: Part Three" (3x101) Beacon or YouTube VODs.[23][24]
