Bluud is a minotaur bodyguard of Marion Lavorre. He protected Marion at the Lavish Chateau in Nicodranas since her daughter Jester was a baby, and he continues to serve as her guard decades later. He was often found at his watch post outside of Marion's door when Jester and the rest of the Mighty Nein visited the Chateau.
As an NPC, Bluud is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description[]
Bluud is a massive, dual-horned minotaur with thick fur.[1] In The Mighty Nein Origins: Jester Lavorre, he is depicted with brown fur, lighter brown hair, and dark brown horns like that of Cape buffalo, and he wears his hair and a goatee in braids.[2]
When Mighty Nein met him in "Dockside Diplomacy" (2x35), he wore a very fine shirt and no pants.[1] In The Mighty Nein Origins, he wore a studded leather garment similar to a bases around his waist but no shirt. He has a septum and nipple piercings, in which he wears gold rings, and wears two golden bangle bracelets on each wrist and one on each bicep.[2]
Bluud appears to be one of few words, speaking little in his various appearances throughout the campaign. Jester remembered him as fun and good to her, recounting that he allowed her to hang off his horns when she was a child.[3] He is thoroughly trusted by Marion.[4][2]

Bluud worked as the bodyguard to Marion Lavorre at the Lavish Chateau since Jester Lavorre was an infant. He also performed errands for Marion, including acting as a babysitter to Jester as she grew up, visiting the market, and accompanying Jester on errands into the city.[2][1] When Jester had a run-in with the Revelry the day she left the Chateau, he rescued her by pulling her onto a carriage.[2]
"Dockside Diplomacy" (2x35)[]
Bluud was standing guard outside Marion's door when the Mighty Nein returned to the Chateau, though they missed him during their earlier visits. He initially stopped Jester, who was magically disguised as a tortle, and the rest of the Nein from seeing Marion. When Jester indicated who she was, he let them pass.[1]
"Homeward Bound" (2x48)[]
Bluud was sitting on the staircase between the second and third floor of the Chateau. He allowed Jester to run past him, but he initially stopped the rest of the Nein from following until Jester gave express approval.[5]
"Family Gathering" (2x71)[]
Early in the morning, the Nein find Bluud standing at his post about to fall asleep, though he became alert at the sound of footsteps. He recognizing Jester through her illusory disguise, awkwardly patted her on the shoulder when she hugged him, and offered to fetch Marion. Hearing Jester's voice, Marion opened the door herself and slammed it into Bluud, who then caught it.[6] Later, Jester warned Bluud to watch for Astrid, whom Jester feared might attempt to harm Marion. She then asked if a package arrived for her and received one sent by Calianna Mordsson.[7]
"A Tangled Web" (2x77)[]
As the Nein arrived at dawn, while the Chateau was closed, Jester let them inside herself without using a key. Hearing the front door open, Bluud came down the stairs with a hand crossbow because the group was arriving both unexpectedly and so early in the day. When they requested rooms to stay in, he retrieved a room key from behind the bar, though he struggled to navigate the small keys with his large hands. He failed to notice Beauregard Lionett surreptitiously taking a swig of wine from the bar but warned her to be careful when he saw the bottle wobbling after she put it back. He led them upstairs to their room and informed Jester that he would tell Marion they arrived when she woke.[8]

Bluud stood outside Marion's door, smoking a pipe. He greeted Jester and opened the door, telling Jester that her mother was available.[9]
"Frigid Propositions" (2x109)[]
Jester found Bluud upstairs sitting half-asleep on a stool. She asked him if Marion was currently busy and if she had any clients for the night. Noting that Marion would push back tonight's client for Jester, he offered to speak to Marion for her. Jester chose to speak with her mother herself, and he returned to his watch.[10]
"Cat and Mouse" (2x128)[]
Bluud, who was finishing lunch outside Marion's door, informed the Nein that Marion was napping and confirmed Yeza Brenatto and his son Luc arrived safely. Caduceus Clay pointed out two strange people downstairs in the Chateau's main room, later revealed to be the disguised Astrid and Eadwulf Grieve. When Bluud went to speak with them, Jester asked him to shut down the main room for the rest of the day as the Nein was being followed by dangerous people. He promised to speak to Carlos Remedi after speaking to the strangers.[11] Bluud attempted to usher the strangers out, citing that other patrons disliked their staring, but he was magically charmed into leaving them alone. He returned upstairs without speaking to Carlos.[12][13]
Minutes later, after Jester instructed Carlos to close the Chateau, Bluud was helping Carlos shut doors. As the Nein discovered that Trent Ikithon was blocks from the Chateau, Jester commanded them to immediately leave the Chateau for their safety.[14]
Post-campaign[]
Bluud had a cameo supplying a charcuterie board for the Mighty Nein to take with them when setting out to battle Uk'otoa in "The Mighty Nein Reunited Part 2" (Sx74). The group also ran into him in the streets of Nicodranas when they were in town to get Jester, Fjord, and Veth immediately following the Apogee Solstice of 843 PD. Bluud had been aiding in the defense of the town against an invasion of massive sea creatures, and told Jester he would take care of Marion while Jester was away.[15]
