The Bloody Bridge is the red beam of light created by Ludinus Da'leth upon his activation of the Malleus Key at the height of the Apogee Solstice of 843 PD.[1][2] It allows travel between the red moon Ruidus and the Tishtan excavation site in the Hellcatch Valley of Marquet where one of its ends is located.

The beam is made of shining crimson light, but appears solid and stretches between Ruidus and Exandria, tethering the moon in place over that location in the Hellcatch Valley.[3] In a dream, Imogen Temult saw it as the focus and singular nexus of all the leylines and magic of Exandria, a "strong column of red energy"[4] that was able to pierce through the Divine Gate-like lattice surrounding Ruidus and create a red storm at its base on Exandria.[5]

History[]

Imogen Temult observed Reilora traveling between the two astral bodies through the beam, and felt strangely drawn toward it to join them.[6]

Keyleth told Bells Hells that the red tether had been named the Bloody Bridge, and that forces from across Exandria had gathered there to deal with the problem.[7] When the party questioned Evontra'vir, the Great Tree of Atrophy, about what might happen to the gods if Predathos were to be released, they saw a vision of the Bloody Bridge widening, the shattering of the Divine Gate, and the deities fleeing pursued by a red shadow.[8] The Bridge was also seen when the Tree showed them the path to defeating Ludinus Da'leth.[9]

During the conference in Whitestone with Keyleth, Allura Vysoren, and others to plan the next steps in combating the threat to Exandria and the gods, Keyleth suggested Bells Hells "infiltrate the Malleus Key, cross the Bloody Bridge, learn whatever you can about the state of Ruidus and the Reiloran people, how advanced the Ruby Vanguard's plan is, return, we can all coordinate to advance on this Moon of Ill Omen, all who are willing to go, at least."[10] The Bloody Bridge is the only known way to travel to Ruidus, since the Divine Gate-like lattice prevents Teleportation and similar magic.[11]

A few days later, the party arrived at the site with Allura after a short trip to the Feywild. With the help of Percival de Rolo, Earthbreaker Groon, and other allies, a distraction was planned and launched to allow Bells Hells to sneak through enemy lines and take the bridge.[12] They were able to infiltrate the Tishtan site, raising the alarm of a few Reilora on their way through. While they were approaching the bridge, Otohan Thull descended from it with a Reiloran Thought Eater and leaped towards the battle at the western encampment.[13]
