Yasha Nydoorin: "Meaning the others who wander the wastes. There are men who are like bull warriors as well, and bugbears, and other goblinoids. Some are wild and angry and hungry, and we had to protect or raid them first. Others, they work with the Kryn. That's farther north, but I've not been there."
"Beastfolk"[2] or "beast folk"[3] is a term that referred to a variety of sentient races and cultures, primarily humanoids and monstrosities, that were created by the wild, chaotic magic released during the early Age of Arcanum and the Calamity.[4]
History[]
Yasha Nydoorin recalled that Ghor Dranas was located far north of where she had once lived, and she and her people avoided it because of all of the beastfolk in that direction. Caleb inquired about what she meant by "beastfolk" and Yasha explained that she was referring to the creatures that wandered the wastes of Xhorhas, using minotaurs and goblinoids as examples. She noted that some beastfolk behaved wildly and angrily, and she and her people usually had to protect or raid them first, but others worked with the Kryn Dynasty.[5]
The city of Asarius in Xhorhas is known as "The City of Beasts".[6] The Mighty Nein were conspicuous because only Nott could have been considered one of its more usual beastfolk residents.[7] When the party later explored the Gallimaufry neighborhood of Rosohna, they noticed numerous beastfolk children running about.[8]
