A Bead of Force is a small black sphere that can be used to generate a transparent force field, permeable only by air, upon impact[3].
Description[]
A bead of force is a 3/4 inch diameter ball, weighing one ounce. It can be thrown up to 60 feet, and self-destructs upon impact. When it is destroyed, all creatures within a 10-foot radius of the bead must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 5d4 force damage and is trapped for one minute in a transparent sphere of force; creatures that pass or who are not entirely within the 10-foot radius are pushed away until they are just outside of the sphere. Creatures in the sphere can breathe, but attacks and spells cannot cross the forcefield.[3]
A creature within the sphere can push against the wall of the sphere as an action, moving it up to half their walking speed. The sphere can also be picked up, and weighs only one pound, independent of its contents.[4]
History[]
Taryon Darrington owned a bead of force and used it to capture Ogden Trickfoot and threaten him, after Ogden had tricked Vox Machina into fighting an illusory smoke monster.[5]
Taryon also used a bead of force on himself [6] in "Critical Role – Level 17 Battle Royale!" (Sx19), to prevent attacks from others. He won the battle.[7]
