The Beacon of Arms, also called the Army of the Just,[1] was a holy army under the banner of the Dawnfather led by his champion Yos Varda in the Age of Arcanum a century before the Calamity.

History[]

Ioun told the following history to Vox Machina in "The Endless Atheneum" (1x106):[2]

After achieving lichdom, Vecna established a stronghold in the city of Thar Amphala in the Shadowfell. From there he exploited the celestial solstice, a merging of ley energies, that gave him the power to open portals at a whim, so that his forces could strike with precision and retreat to Thar Amphala before retaliating forces could muster. After terrorizing his enemies for months, Vecna prepared to ascend to godhood with the Ritual of Seeding, but the Celestial Solstice was reverse-engineered, and the Beacon of Arms thereby assaulted Thar Amphala. Yos Varda attacked Vecna directly, and though Vecna mortally wounded him, he had created the opening for Kas the Bloody-Handed to betray Vecna, and the two destroyed each other. Vecna's forces collapsed, and surviving members of the Beacon of Arms returned home victorious.
