Barbithrix is a human warlock, or something close to those descriptors, in service of the Strife Emperor at Rybad-Kol in the closing days of the Calamity. As an NPC, he is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.
Description[]
Barbithrix is overall a horrifying sight. He is gaunt, with a magically stretched skull. Emerging from his back is an additional pair of arms with poor fine motor skills but long claws suited for violence. He wears black robes, leather, and shaped bone, with a collar made of upward-facing skeletal claws.[2]
Barbithrix is cold and calculating, quick to kill any person as soon as their value in service to the Strife Emperor is not worth their upkeep, but no sooner; he is a stickler for detail, and allows himself to be held to his word on deadlines.[3] He demands the same of those who work for him.[4]
Biography[]
"Give and Take" (E4x01)[]
Barbithrix visited the infirmary to ensure that any patients who were not recovering fast enough to be worth maintaining would be promptly killed. Rei'nia Saph, the nurse at the infirmary, assured Barbithrix that her patients were all recovering before the deadlines; he pressed her to make sure she was only advocating for her patients insofar as they were of value to the Strife Emperor. He tasked his servant with sending soldiers to kill a patient if he did not recover by nightfall.
He and Cyrulia sat beside Azmog, the commander of the Steel Keep, at that evening's dinner. He met the news of the Ruiner losing an eye to the Arch Heart with disbelief.
Barbithrix was not seen or mentioned after the defeat of the Strife Emperor and the slaughter of many of those who served him at Rybad-Kol.
Relationships[]
Barbithrix employs a gnome servant, Rufus, to help him with calculations of inmates' worth.[5]
