Armor of resistance is a protective garment that grants resistance to one type of damage to its wearer: acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder. There is also an armor that gives spell resistance, allowing the wearer to make saving throws with advantage against enemy incantations targeting the wearer.

History[]

Keyleth inherited leather armor of spell resistance from her mother Vilya (+2 AC, advantage on spell saves, +2 to spell saves).[8]

A duergar general wore blackened plate armor of fire resistance, which was packed into Grog's Bag of Holding once the general was defeated by Vox Machina.[9]

Vax'ildan had had studded leather armor of acid resistance since pre-stream,[10] last mentioning wearing it in "Trial of the Take: Part 4" (1x21).[11] During the Chroma Conclave attack, Vax/Liam said the armor had been transferred to someone else,[12] and it appeared six episodes later in Vex's hands.[13] She traded the armor to Scanlan in exchange for Coldsnap Leather Armor, since Scanlan was preparing to teleport into the acidic belly of Umbrasyl.[14]

Vox Machina purchased the coldsnap leather armor from Gilmore's Glorious Goods for 7500 gold in "Skyward" (1x15) as Keyleth wished to use it herself.[2][15] However, she shortly realized she preferred her leather armor of spell resistance, and the armor went to Scanlan Shorthalt.[16] This was the armor Scanlan traded to Vex'ahlia in exchange for her armor of acid resistance.[17] The armor later protected Vex'ahlia from the full brunt of Vorugal's ice breath.[18]

Trivia[]

  • Dragon armor functions as armor of resistance with an additional bonus to AC.[19]
