An Amulet of Cursed Life is a magical item with protective and necromantic properties.

Description[]

The amulet found by Bells Hells consisted of a silver chain with a dark purple-blue gem.[2]

Once per day, and only if the amulet is being worn by someone, a spell of 5th level or less cast within 5 feet of the item, it is nullified and absorbed by it; then, all dead bodies in a 200-feet radius around the amulet are reanimated as skeletons and zombies, and go after whoever is wearing the amulet. Once the necromantic effect is activated, the undead will chase the item and whoever has it at the moment, even if it is no longer the same person wearing it when its properties were activated.[3]

History[]

Essek's advice by Rann

After the apogee solstice of 843 PD Bells Hells and Essek Thelyss visited the ruins of Aeor in Eiselcross. There, although their guide had warned them not to interact with anything, when Imogen Temult saw a magically-slowed moving corpse with a silver chain around its neck, she took it with her Mage Hand before letting Laudna take it, much to Essek's frustration; the warlock used her own Mage Hand so she could carefully place the ornament inside her pouch without touching it.[4] The following day, back in the wizard's home in Rexxentrum, he Identified the item for Laudna, revealing the properties of the amulet, and causing the adventuring party to briefly discuss how to weaponize it.[5]
