Agatha was a night hag and the foster mother of Xella Blacktongue.

Description[]

She was a woman of mottled blue skin with long greasy hair, and she behaved rudely even when she received compliments.[3]

History[]

In the past, Agatha lived in the Utesspire Mountains under an ancient dead willow tree, using her magic to control nature, and even cast a powerful curse to that end. Not long before 809 PD, she made a deal with a couple, and took their human child. She raised him as her own in a small room in her lair, and took him with her occasionally when she had to deal with people; one of those times, the hag found the home of Professor Alexander Ward, who had found her heartstone, and traded a bag of oats for it.[4] Over time, her magical influence transformed her adoptive son into a hexblood, a fey being, and he eventually left, becoming an artificer and merchant known as Xella Blacktongue.[5]

At some point before 839 PD, the Slayer's Take defeated Agatha near her lair, although they weren't able to find her heartstone. Even after she was gone, her curse activated, animating many twigmen that attacked people and stole the sap from the local trees.[6]
