Music used by Critical Role

While looking for a very specific song (that electro song from Marisha's teaser for Creator Clash 2), Shazam led me to Volta Music, a label promoted by Universal. Digging deeper I've found that some of the music used by CR is from Universal Promotion Music (for instance here's the song used at the end of "Crafting a Mystery with Spenser Starke" video ; here's the song used for CR's shop bit). While I'm not certain that CR always uses music from Universal (besides their own; and more specifically when they play), I guess they use their services (since CR left Geek & Sundry?).

My point is not to track down every song CR uses ([or not all by myself, at least] that'd be exhausting and probably not very useful), but to hint that some of the music comes from Universal. Where do you think this information would be relevant, if it were?

Initial thought is that sometimes we've added notes in Trivia for individual shows about the music where we learned a source, and Template:Infobox Show has an entry line for the theme music, where that's appropriate. For the smaller things like the two you reference without specific articles or even real mentions, I'm not sure where that info could go in general; it would be very case-by-case. For instance, maybe a note in the Trivia for Candela? And in the Merchandise subheading in Critical Role Productions LLC?

If you were thinking about perhaps creating some kind of a general Music page listing songs and/or artists where they've been identified, that's an interesting idea. I'm not sure offhand what the easiest way to track it would be but if it's something you wanted to think further about with an eye toward getting it started, that would be good.

I think it's particularly relevant to dedicate a page to a certain song/album when the music is commissioned and/or created by CR (for instance Welcome to Tal'Dorei, Let's Roll...).

Here, those songs all fall under the "pre-existing music" category and the lack of real mention by CR makes them all guesses. As you suggest, maybe a link in the Critical Role Productions LLC page and an other one in the Music category template would be appropriate.

Also, I sometime see people on social media (Reddit mostly) asking about a specific song used by Matt during the game. I know he shared his playlist for campaign one back in 2016. Obviously, his playlist has changed since, but I think it'd be interesting to create a page about it too (as well as other campaigns' playlists).

The way I see it, both pages could have the same template: each section would correspond to a specific series (or an episode), and could have a general table divided by artist/song/source(s) from CR/external link (at least).

I'll keep thinking about it. ;)

(Impossible to edit previous post, so it's a double one.)

My bad, Universal Production Music (as well as Epidemic Sounds and 5 Alarm) are usually credited, both on YouTube and Apple Podcasts, so there're proofs. However, figuring out which songs are used is difficult (or at least time consuming).

Also, about two years ago, at the beginning of C3, a redditer listed the songs used.

What do you think?
