New to commenting on the wiki, but I would like to add support to the point that the chapter navigation as it stands currently is incredibly confusing for new viewers. Beginning campaign 3 at chapter 20, in particular, is an esoteric barrier to entry and understanding to viewers whose first campaign is C3 and who are trying to use the wiki.

I think it should be acknowledged that there are a large number of new fans for whom that will be the case, simply looking at the viewership numbers on the VODs. As the purpose of the wiki is to facilitate information retrieval about a subject for fans and viewers, I am supportive of a change that would more readily achieve that goal for viewers and readers who do not have a years-long institutional memory of the internal wiki organization system.

It is also an issue that this chapter system only exists in the wiki and is not present in any official materials from CR or present in other fan spaces that would make it more easily understandable to new fans.

Made this account solely to emphatically state how much chapters should be removed. I've been watching CR since campaign two and *I* have problems figuring out what episode has been assigned to what fan-made "chapter" of the show. Even newer fans will be completely at a loss. Frankly I don't even use the chapter navigation box at the bottom of the articles, I've given up and just type the episode number into the search bar. Or, I leave the wiki entirely to google the episode to take me back to the wiki. I should not have to resort to that in order to find an episode. It's a completely archaic system. Please dear god replace it with episode numbers as they air (like, here are campaign three episodes 1-10, next section is 11-20, etc) or like, literally anything else that makes an iota more sense.

I do want to add, since I don't think I've made it clear enough in my initial comment: the chapter system also explicitly ignores Exandria Unlimited, which feels very strange and odd considering that Exandria Unlimited is both a canonical installment and also is more relevant to Campaign 3 than, really, either Campaign 2 or 1 so far.

The chapter system proposes a continuity that does not necessarily exist between the campaigns—they're all able to stand on their own, actually—while specifically excluding a major installment in the overall narrative chronology. This exposes a major flaw in the chapter system.

I'm also new to commenting on the wiki, and just want to chime in with my agreement that the chapter system be removed. I've been watching CR for years and have literally avoided using the wiki episode nav pages because the chapter system doesn't make sense. It just seems a bit silly to prioritize a system that the show and fandom doesn't use. Like even on individual episode pages the chapter system is listed before the official numbering, which is in brackets like some kind of afterthought.

For something like this, I think user experience has to be prioritized even if that's over what works for wiki editors or what's always been done. Like - what are the users going to be searching by? How do they already understand episode numbering before looking at the wiki? I'm not even a casual fan and I've had trouble with it, so how are newer fans going to be able to navigate it? I admit I don't know what kind of work goes into managing and editing the wiki (and I really, really do appreciate how hard you work!), but I really believe the chapter system should be dropped for some kind of simple episode number/title lists. Sort by campaign, sure, but I'm hesitant about replacing the chapters with arcs because even the most well-known arcs aren't known by or accessible to everyone, especially new fans.

@Tinkeringcheck Thanks for your input! I just wanted to clarify that the suggests about replacing it with narrative arcs wouldn't have to do with numbering at all, but rather for when subdivisions are needed to organize a lot of information. For example, the headers at "Percival de Rolo" currently read "Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3..." when they could be somewhat more transparently organized as "Kraghammer and Vasselheim, The Briarwoods..." which would be more understandable to even a new fan. Similar proposals for Campaign 2 are, admittedly not as transparent, but "Adventure on the High Seas" (from Crit Recap Animated) as an example is much clearer to understand where in the campaign that is than "Chapter 12".

If such high level subdivisions above episode numbers are not needed for organization, as is the majority of cases, they simply won't be used. Thus, the proposals for arc divisions will affect almost exclusively player characters, who have a LOT of information to organize.

The proposals, as I understand them, would eliminate the "Chapter 8, Episode 1" note in an infobox without replacing it and directly just list it as "Campaign 1, Episode 100" in that infobox. So, when it comes to episode number and title lists, the narrative arc proposals won't come into play at all, especially as there is an included proposal to unify the episode listings into by-campaign lists—in the vast majority of contexts, episodes will just be listed by number and by title, without even a reference to narrative arc.

@FreckledMcCree Thank you so much for taking the time to explain! Yeah, I can definitely see why some kind of subheading is needed to organize the character pages, and in that case I'd agree arcs are the best way. My bad for jumping in and misunderstanding. I'm glad to hear about the proposed changes to the campaign episode lists though!
